Recently, I’ve had the pleasure of writing for a few local organizations I care a lot about.
I wrote about my experience volunteering for Madison Reading Project, a really great nonprofit that distributes free books to kids throughout south central Wisconsin. (Yes, free books! One of the best phrases in the English language!) You can read my piece in MRP’s April newsletter.
I’ve also started contributing Facebook posts for the Dane County Humane Society’s Wildlife Center. (Did you know this existed? I didn’t, until last fall.) Now, as a volunteer, I help feed orphaned baby birds. It’s amazing.
Last but not least, I wrote a short blog post for the Wisconsin chapter of the Society of Children’s Book Writers & Illustrators, which you can read here.
I also care a lot about baked goods, so if you know of any bakeries in Madison that need writers, let me know. I’ll work for samples.
